Colonist: Shepard grew up on Mindoir, a colony which eventually gets attacked by Batarian slavers. She managed to escape but witnessed her family and friends be captured and killed (which causes her to hate Batarians).
Sole Survivor: Shepard's unit fell to a thresher maw attack on Akuze, leaving Shepard to fight for survival against all odds on her own. Which also adds to her desperate need to save everyone.

Paragade: Shepard always tries to do the right thing, however the more she sees of the galaxy the harder it becomes for her to do that, especially after being brought back by Cerberus. She has become increasingly jaded and more reckless, despite her desperate need to try and save everyone.

When her crew is abducted she goes after them immediately.
Sent Kasumi through the vents. Chose Miranda to lead the second team. Chose Jack for her biotics. Sent Mordin to escort crew back to the ship.

After Shepard was told she'd have to go on trial she said FUCK IT THE REAPERS ARE COMING I DON'T HAVE TIME FOR THIS SHIT and went rogue and began to raise her own army.
Managed to negotiate with the Alliance that any of the crew who decided to leave during this time would be given a fair trial.
Basically... I just don't see why Shepard would agree to sit around for six months knowing the threat that was coming. So I'm totally here for any and all plot things from this game (except the end lmfao) but just under the context of her being rogue.
